After not making the post season for the first time in 22 years, there is hope for the Tigers as Rivals has the Tigers at #16 in their early 2009 rankings. That's the good news. The bad news is there are 4 ACC schools ahead of the Tigers in those same rankings.
Texas and Texas A&M are among 8 teams Rivals has chosen to make it to Omaha in 2009, while the Tigers were not in that group.
Baseball America also picked 8 (or 12) teams to make it to Omaha in 2009 and the Tigers were not on this list either.
